I was the other day trying new animes, and it takes some effort for me not to drop a series because my attention span is very diffuse - manga works best for me.
This season saw the release of Make Heroine ga Oosugiru! - or better known by Makeine by its light novel fans in Asia. Quite an interesting teenagy story about a loser keeping tabs with interesting girls that are not good enough for their school alphas. It shines best on dialogue and the quality of animation that definetly is top 5 on the current season, animated by A-5 Studio.
Of course it would go like any other anime: New waifus, some nice voice acting that makes us really like the characters, then we become fans. Yanami, the 'main' gal is somewhat a pig when it comes to eating. She loves to eat for free on the beta mc, her dad owns some kind of food biz, and she loves CREAM MELON SODA, a very famous drink in Animes. Of course it is, because it is very instagrammable and japanese and korean cafeterias have them readily available. For whatever reason,it is also present in PSO2 Franca's cafe and Creative Spaces, so I felt like trying it.
The original recipe uses korean Melon Soda, carbonated water and syrups used on drinks. First of all, you would think Brazil being such a fruitful country, with such abundance, that people would make melon sodas (even if the yellow one, not the asian type), but NAH, not a single brand did it. It is what it is.
Also these syrups are somewhat expensive here because they are not sold in depatos next door like candies, so they are relegated to barmen supplies. 3 dollars for 300ml unit is not something I wanna pay for, so I went the easier way. Monster Energy Drink.
The first time I went with Monster ED Pipeline Punch (which I had never tried before), and it was extremely sugary, specially because I went straight with the energy drink. This time I decided to use 30% of carbonated water so it diminishes both the sugar and the caffeine components.
Well, Shall we start?
The recipe
You will need:
Monster Energy Drink (of choice, but I used Pacific Punch)
Carbonated Water
A Glass of water
Ice Tray
Vanilla Ice cream
First things first. Drop some ice on your glass. Normally the cheapskate fill the glass with them, but i'd rather have my drink more pure (not on the rocks), so 3 or 4 cubes would be enough. Then, pour your carbonated water. Yes, the carbonated comes first, because you don't want it to mix with the ice cream. The vanilla icecream and the Monster make enough bubble on its own. The carbonated water has to be 2 or 3 "fingers" high according to your glass. If you feel like adding more, be my guest, just keep in mind the ices will eventually melt.
Then, gently pour your Monster, preferentially doing a 30° angle to reduce the bubble formation. Then, comes the last touch. Drop a good spoon of vanilla ice cream on top, gently, please.
If you have some small fruit, like cherry, it is a good last touch. Also, Having an aluminium straw (or of any other metal) helps with the mixing in a very stylish finishing.
My review on this one time is that, although not as sugary, I felt it as more pleasant. I wonder how better would it be with Red Bull? Honestly, I still wanna do the original one, like the real deal. This would not count as a replacement, so I just call it a take with a different basis. There is also the famous one with coca-cola (which we call black-cow down here) so i'm willing to try with something less sweet, maybe coconut water soda, or straight out real coconut water. Tastewise, the Pacific Punch didn't go very well with this, the Pipeline Punch was more inline with a sweety flavored drink, but, again, it might be because of the lack of carbonated water when I prepared.
If you all wanna do the original, just replace the Energy drink for any Melon soda like this one below, sadly the local korean market was out of stock because the Terry Crews ads were super effective (lmao, true story).
Overall, a nice experience for some nice ship 2 friday night story mode. What are you guys having tonight? Let me know in the comments =)
By the way, the beautiful Yanami cosplay I made is now uploaded on my google drive, I hope you use it and love it as much I do. Download it here
I'm still in the process of creating the cosplay section for Phantasy Star Online 2, so bear with me on this one. There are some stuff I gotta figure out first.
Well, thanks for dropping by and reading!
